Global Concerns Students Executive

The Global Concerns Students Executive is a small group of dedicated students who run and co-ordinate the activities of all GC project groups at UWCSEA. The Executive meets once a week with the Head of Global Concerns to ensure that GC runs smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for students to show their skills as leaders. It is an extremely enjoyable experience, and everyone is encouraged to apply!

The positions available are listed below:

  • Chairperson: The chairperson leads all meeting at both a Management and executive level. The chairperson will need to learn how Global Concerns operates, and must represent GC at various meetings.
  • Secretary and Vice-Chairperson: The secretary is responsible for the agendas and minutes of the GC meetings. This position also takes over, if the chairperson is unavailable. This position requires good organisational skills.
  • Middle School-Co-ordinator: This position fulfils the very important position of co-ordinating with the teacher in charge of Lower School Global Concerns. An ability to work well alongside teachers and to handle lower school pupils well is important.
  • Primary School Co-ordinator: Similar to Middle School Co-coordinator except that this focuses on the primary level.
  • Publicity: This position requires someone to advertise Global Concerns and initiatives schoolwide. This will involve speaking in assemblies, putting up posters and ensuring messages go into the bulletin and tutor groups.
  • Fundraising and Finance: To co-ordinate the sale of items such as calendars and cards which generally funds GC. Has to take over the sale of such products.
  • Group Co-ordinators: 4 positions available, one for each group. Has to hold regular meetings with all members of the groups, promoting co-operation between groups. Ensures all GC projects are running smoothly.
